Former Christie's CEO Departs Pinault Collection Presidency After Brief Tenure

Guillaume Cerutti has stepped down from his role as president of the Pinault Collection following a 13-month tenure, according to reports from the French publication Glitz. Cerutti, previously chief executive officer at Christie's auction house, assumed the position in February 2025. The Pinault Collection, owned by French billionaire François Pinault, encompasses approximately 10,000 artworks and operates several exhibition venues: the Bourse de Commerce in Paris, along with Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana in Venice. The Paris museum launched in 2021, while the Venetian sites commenced operations in 2006 and 2007. Pinault also oversees Venice's Teatrino, a renovated auditorium designed by architect Tadao Ando. Neither Cerutti nor the collection's representatives have provided commentary on his exit, with a spokesperson indicating no immediate plans to name a successor or interim leader. Pinault remains honorary president and is reportedly deeply involved in daily operations. Cerutti's extensive background includes leadership roles at Centre Pompidou, service as chief of staff to France's culture minister, and executive positions at Sotheby's and Christie's. He led Christie's as CEO from 2017 until January 2025, succeeded by Bonnie Brennan, though he retains the role of board chairman. The transition to the Pinault Collection did not alter his ultimate employer, as both Christie's and the collection are under Pinault's investment firm Groupe Artémis. This holding company also owns Creative Artists Agency, acquired in 2023. Pinault, founder of the luxury conglomerate Kering, ranks among the world's wealthiest individuals with an estimated net worth of $29.5 billion.
