Fondazione Benetton's 'Treviso urbs picta' Research Yields New Dating, Database, and Guided Tours of Painted Facades

Since its inception in 2011, the Fondazione Benetton has been at the forefront of the 'Treviso urbs picta' initiative, which investigates the frescoed facades of buildings in Treviso using both archival materials and field surveys. A significant publication, 'Treviso urbs picta. Facciate affrescate della città dal XIII al XXI secolo,' edited by Rossella Riscica and Chiara Voltarel, received the Special Jury Prize at the Premio Gambrinus Giuseppe Mazzotti in 2019. The project maintains a database, accessible at trevisourbspicta.fbsr.it, cataloging 614 buildings with images and historical context. In collaboration with Rotary Club Treviso, audioguides and itineraries were developed in 2019.
