Five Art Books for Kids to Pack This Summer

Beaux Arts magazine has curated five children's books that make art discovery a playful summer activity. The selection includes 'Le Carnet d'Hilma' by Véronique Le Normand and Lisbeth Renardy, a fictional biography of abstract pioneer Hilma af Klint (1862–1944), whose work is on view at the Grand Palais until August 30. For ages 7+. Harry Gruyaert, the 85-year-old Magnum photographer, releases his first children's book 'Je vois rouge' (éd. Hélium, 21.90 €, ages 6+), coinciding with the Rencontres d'Arles (July 6–October 4) where he has an exhibition. The book launches the new collection 'Voir avec…' by editors Géraldine Lay (Actes Sud) and Sophie Giraud (Hélium). The 'Suivez le guide' series from Pyramyd offers fold-out books on masterpieces like the Mona Lisa, Notre-Dame de Paris, The Raft of the Medusa, and the Eiffel Tower (6.90 €, ages 7+). Dick Bruna's Miffy returns in 'Miffy et les impressionnistes' (éd. GrandPalais-RmnÉditions, 12 €, ages 3+), introducing 12 Impressionist works by Monet, Degas, Morisot, and Seurat through seek-and-find games. Finally, 'Dans ma chambre avec Matisse' by Agnès Mathieu-Daudé (coll. 'Mon musée Lunii', 12.90 €, ages 5+) is an audio story featuring six episodes with actors and documentary capsules, tied to the Grand Palais exhibition 'Matisse – 1941–1954' running until July 26.
