FBI Identifies Hezbollah-Inspired Terrorism in Michigan Synagogue Vehicle Attack

Federal authorities have determined that a March vehicle attack on a Michigan synagogue was motivated by Hezbollah ideology. According to FBI statements released on Monday, Ayman Ghazali, a 41-year-old resident of Dearborn Heights, deliberately drove his pickup truck into Temple Israel in the Detroit area on March 12. The incident is being classified as a terrorist act specifically aimed at the Jewish community. Officials reported that Ghazali waited in the parking lot for several hours before accelerating his vehicle through closed doors into a hallway within an early childhood education section of the building. A security guard was struck during the assault. Approximately 150 children and staff members were present at the time, but no other injuries occurred. Investigators cited digital evidence from Ghazali's social media accounts showing support for Hezbollah's militant views and expressions of vengeance. Online searches conducted days prior to the incident targeted Michigan synagogues and Jewish cultural locations, ultimately focusing on Temple Israel. Authorities noted they cannot confirm whether the attacker was aware children would be in the facility. The FBI emphasized this was a premeditated act intended to cause maximum destruction at what is described as Michigan's largest Jewish temple.
