Expedition Motor Company Unveils Historically Accurate Camouflage on Custom 1991 Mercedes-Benz Wolf

Expedition Motor Company (EMC) has revealed a unique custom vehicle project involving a 1991 Mercedes-Benz 620GE Wolf. The company, based in Frenchtown, New Jersey, completed this one-of-a-kind commission by applying a historically faithful multi-tone camouflage exterior finish. This paint scheme replicates patterns originally used on military vehicles, which were typically applied in field conditions with organic variations. EMC conducted detailed research to recreate authentic green, brown, and black hues that appear intentionally weathered. The restoration required over 2,500 hours of specialized work to transform the vintage military truck into a refined machine while maintaining its original silhouette and structural integrity. This marks the first time the studio has executed such a complex historically accurate camouflage treatment. Mechanically, the vehicle has been significantly upgraded from its original OM602 diesel engine to a 430-horsepower LS3 V8 paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, though it retains off-road capabilities like locking differentials. The interior features luxury materials including Sweetgrass upholstery with Port stitching and gray-stained European oak trim, contrasting with the utilitarian exterior. The build preserves classic elements like the folding windshield and boxy lines while enhancing driving dynamics. This project represents EMC's ongoing work with Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen platforms, demonstrating how historical military vehicles can be transformed into bespoke collector items that bridge past utility with present refinement.
