Dominique de Menil Among Six Houston Women Honored in New Mural
The Women's Home, a nonprofit organization in Houston dedicated to assisting women facing homelessness, has revealed the six prominent women from Houston who will be celebrated in a mural at The Cottage Shop thrift store located on Westheimer Road in Montrose. Titled "Faces of Change," the mural will be created by Houston muralist Anat Ronen, who was chosen in March following an open call in December 2025. Initially set for completion in May 2026, the 61 by 20-foot mural's deadline has been pushed to October. The distinguished honorees include Charlotte Baldwin Allen, Dominique de Menil, Terry Hershey, Ima Hogg, Barbara Jordan, and Ninfa "Mama Ninfa" Rodríguez Laurenzo. Proceeds from The Cottage Shop benefit The Women's Home's programs for women experiencing homelessness.
