Deutsch LA's Circular Design System for ADCOLOR FUTURES 23 Editorial Project
On November 23, 2023, Deutsch LA revealed an editorial and graphic design project created for ADCOLOR FUTURES 23. The work was developed by designers Kenneth Kegley and Vanissa Wong, who employed a minimalist approach centered on circular forms. This geometric motif serves as the foundation for a comprehensive visual language, with circles transformed into various patterns and iconography to represent the themes of 'futures' and 'adcolor.' The design integrates text and graphic elements seamlessly, making the words themselves part of the visual composition. A color palette of light lime green and cyan accent tones was selected to convey vibrancy, freshness, and a forward-looking optimism appropriate for the initiative. The project demonstrates how basic design elements can be used with intention and restraint to create functional and aesthetically compelling editorial pieces. Key personnel involved include SVP, Director of Experiential Acacia May; EVP, Head of Advocacy and Communications Ayn Howze; Associate Producer Sydney Smith; EVP, Chief Design Officer Adhemas Batista; SVP, Director of Design Talin Baharian; SVP, Director of Assets and Content John Cluckie; and photographer Ben Morris. The studio Steelhead also contributed to the project. This editorial design stands as an example of how minimalist principles can achieve significant visual impact and clear communication in graphic design.
