In early 2020, Stanley, a dachshund owned by Melanie Talbot, encountered Aayla, a rescued seal, at the Sea Life Trust Cornish Sanctuary in Cornwall, England. The meeting occurred when Talbot visited the facility with her dog. The two animals interacted through a glass partition for approximately twenty minutes, displaying mutual curiosity. She speculated that Aayla may have been drawn to Stanley because he was wearing a knitted snood that day, potentially making him resemble an earless seal.
