Crystal Bridges Museum Installs Historic Tiffany Window by Agnes Northrup After Acquisition from Texas Church

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-16

The Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, located in Bentonville, Arkansas, has unveiled the Mountain Landscape (Root Memorial Window), a 1917 altar window crafted by Agnes Northrup from Tiffany Studios, in its Visions of America Galleries. This piece, which portrays a serene forest scene, was obtained in May 2024 from Sunset Ridge Church in San Antonio, Texas, after being out of public view for ten years. It is showcased in a turquoise alcove featuring adjustable lighting. Northrup, a trailblazing artist, originally designed the window for the Woodmen of the World society. Additionally, Sunset Ridge Church contributed the Arkansas State Window to the museum. Celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, Crystal Bridges plans a 114,000-square-foot expansion by Safdie Architects in June 2025.
