Corgan Expands East Coast Presence with Acquisition of Washington, D.C. Architecture Firm FOX Architects

Corgan, an international architecture firm founded 87 years ago, has completed the purchase of FOX Architects, a Washington, D.C.-based practice established in 2003. The transaction was finalized with advisory support from Morrissey Goodale, a New York business consultancy. Corgan, which employs over 1,200 professionals across offices in the United States, United Kingdom, Dublin, and Singapore, recently established a D.C. office in 2024. FOX Architects specializes in commercial architecture and interior design projects, with expertise in workplace, government, and commercial repositioning work. Corgan CEO Scott Ruch stated that the merger enhances their D.C. presence and advances design contributions to the capital's civic, cultural, and business environments. Derek Wood, managing principal of FOX Architects, described the move as a significant evolution for their practice, noting that joining Corgan provides access to greater technical resources and global expertise while maintaining cultural alignment and design philosophy. This acquisition represents Corgan's continued expansion on the East Coast, following previous purchases of Cooper Robertson in New York and Dyer Brown & Associates in Boston. In 2025, Corgan was recognized by Building Design + Construction as the top-earning architecture firm in the data center sector, reporting $213 million in data center facility revenue for 2024. Approximately 25% of Corgan's workforce is dedicated to data center projects, according to managing principal Dan Drennan. The firm anticipates that integrating FOX Architects will accelerate regional growth and market influence.
