Cinecittà's Revival: From 1.8M Profit to Global Productions

Cinecittà, the historic Roman film studio once called 'the dream factory' by Federico Fellini, has undergone a significant revival under CEO Nicola Maccanico, appointed in 2021. By September 2022, the studio reported a net profit of over €1.8 million, one year ahead of its 2022-2026 industrial plan, with revenues of €39 million—more than double 2021. In 2023, over 50 productions occupied its soundstages, 70% international, including films by Luca Guadagnino, Angelina Jolie, and Roland Emmerich. Four Italian films shot at Cinecittà competed at the 80th Venice Film Festival: 'Comandante', 'Finalmente l'alba', 'Adagio', and 'Enea'. Notable actors and directors hosted include Anthony Hopkins, Daniel Craig, Charlize Theron, Denzel Washington, Willem Dafoe, and Nanni Moretti. The studio's revival has boosted Italy's film industry and economy, with thousands of workers employed daily.
