Château de Plaisir to Reopen as Cultural Hub After €11M Restoration

In early 2027, the Château de Plaisir, a 17th-century landmark located in Yvelines, France, will reopen as a multicultural hub following extensive renovations that began in autumn 2024. The initiative features a cultural area of 300 square meters designated for literary gatherings, art displays, and conferences, supported by an €11 million budget, with half sourced from state and regional grants. The restoration will primarily address the exterior, including the roof and joinery, alongside the installation of a geothermal heating system. Additionally, the nearby dovecote from the same century will undergo foundation and roofing repairs. Interior renovations will aim to return the château to its original 1620 appearance, while the upper levels will be converted for a music conservatory. Originally constructed for Simon Le Tellier, the city acquired the château in 1976.
