Bullfighter Juan Ortega Explores Málaga's Holy Week Traditions with Actor Antonio Banderas

Sevillian bullfighter Juan Ortega visited Málaga's Holy Week celebrations for the first time, guided by actor Antonio Banderas. The two met on Monday at the headquarters of the Reales Cofradías Fusionadas, a religious brotherhood where Banderas serves as a member and holds the position of mayordomo for the Virgen de Lágrimas y Favores. Ortega's visit preceded his upcoming participation in the Corrida Picassiana bullfight scheduled for Holy Saturday (Sábado de Gloria). In that event, he will perform alongside fellow bullfighters Fortes and Pablo Aguado, facing bulls from the Puerto de San Lorenzo and El Pilar ranches. The bullfight will be broadcast by Canal Sur television. During their meeting, Ortega and Banderas discussed their respective professional experiences in bullfighting, cinema, and theater, while Banderas introduced Ortega to the cultural and spiritual aspects of the local cofrade traditions. This encounter represents a convergence of two distinct artistic expressions—bullfighting and acting—within the framework of Andalusia's deeply rooted Holy Week customs.
