Borges Labyrinth on San Giorgio Maggiore Restored for 40th Death Anniversary

The Labyrinth of the Giorgio Cini Foundation on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice, has been restored to mark the fortieth anniversary of Jorge Luis Borges's death. The labyrinth, dedicated to the Argentine writer (1899–1986), is considered one of Italy's most beautiful and evocative. The restoration, the first in fifteen years, was sponsored by PwC Italy. Designed by Buora and Palladio, the labyrinth functions as a third cloister, blending ancient and contemporary, architecture and literature, and landscape. It opened to the public in 2021 via guided tours by VisitCini and has attracted over 25,000 visitors in five years. Renata Codello, Secretary General of the Giorgio Cini Foundation, oversaw the project.
