Belfast Design Agency Marks 25th Anniversary with Custom Illustrated Playing Cards

The Belfast-based graphic design firm Whitenoise has commemorated its 25th anniversary by producing a special deck of playing cards. Each card in the deck bears an original illustration representing significant global pop culture moments from 2000 to 2025. The agency, known for undertaking self-funded creative projects to mark milestones, developed this initiative to reflect its design expertise and celebrate client relationships. The team collaboratively selected events with both worldwide and local relevance, creating a visual timeline of the period since the agency's establishment. The artistic styles vary across the cards, ranging from abstract and bold to intricate and detailed, with the Ace of Hearts symbolizing the agency's 2000 founding. Production involved meticulous preparation of 52 illustrations for printing, partnering with specialized card manufacturers to achieve proper texture and lamination, and working with a box maker to create a premium branded container. Completed decks were personally delivered to clients as gifts and to foster interaction. The project also includes interactive elements, allowing users to identify the depicted events or play a comparative game. Despite encountering some supplier difficulties, Whitenoise successfully realized this project, which embodies their quarter-century dedication to creative design and innovation.
