This work, titled 'How Not to Dal Dy Dir,' was published in 2012 by Gangani Publishing, a company owned by Winn and her husband. The revelation contradicts her repeated public statements that 'The Salt Path' was her first written work. The earlier publication was marketed with a house raffle promotion that contained inaccurate claims about the property's financial status. These disclosures follow a 2025 investigation by The Observer questioning the accuracy of details in 'The Salt Path,' which received several literary awards including the Christopher Bland Prize.
