Australian Museum Researchers Document Snail Biodiversity on Tetepare Island

A team of four researchers from the Australian Museum conducted a ten-day expedition to Tetepare Island in the Solomon Islands to study land and freshwater snails. The project, part of a broader Pacific Islands biodiversity initiative, aimed to document species diversity in an area with no prior mollusk research. Preliminary findings suggest Tetepare may host unique snail species not found elsewhere. The research was conducted with local conservation rangers and supported by the Tetepare Descendants Association, funded by the Australia and Pacific Science Foundation. The data will help assess conservation needs across the Solomon Islands.
