Australian Museum Journal Gains Prestigious Open Access Index Recognition

publication · 2026-03-24

In March 2022, Records of the Australian Museum, the peer-reviewed publication of the Australian Museum, was included in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). This global index highlights academic publications that provide free access to research. The journal has operated with open access principles since going online in 1999 but recently met DOAJ's rigorous standards. This inclusion makes it the first Australian journal in taxonomy, systematics, and zoology on the DOAJ list and one of only ten Australian scientific journals indexed. The recognition is expected to increase the journal's visibility and accessibility worldwide.
