Australian Museum Appoints Interim Leaders for Research Institute

The Australian Museum has named two senior scientists to interim leadership positions at its research division. Professor Shane Ahyong will serve as Acting Chief Scientist, while Julie Ellmers becomes Acting Director of the Australian Museum Research Institute. Both will join the museum's executive team. These appointments follow the departure of former leader Prof Kris Helgen, who is taking a position at the Bishop Museum in Hawaii. Museum Director Kim McKay expressed confidence in their ability to advance scientific research. Ahyong is recognized for his work on crustaceans and species discovery, and Ellmers previously managed major research programs and collections.
