Australia Launches Public Consultation for Next National Cultural Policy

The Australian Federal Government has initiated a public consultation process to develop the country's next National Cultural Policy, succeeding the 2023 Revive policy. Federal Arts Minister Tony Burke announced that submissions from the arts sector and general public will be accepted until 24 May 2026. The process includes town hall meetings across the nation and input from five expert panels focusing on the pillars of the previous policy. Minister Burke highlighted that the consultation aims to ensure all ideas are considered, citing the establishment of the Australian Poet Laureate as an example of a proposal that emerged from previous feedback. The government reports that 85% of Revive's key platforms have been implemented, including the creation of Music Australia and Writing Australia to address specific sector needs.
