Archaeologist Explores Ancient Egyptian Afterlife Beliefs in Museum Lecture

Dr Anna-Latifa Mourad-Cizek, an archaeologist and historian from Macquarie University, delivered a lecture titled 'Journey to the Afterlife' at the Australian Museum on December 23, 2023. The presentation examined ancient Egyptian funerary practices and beliefs, using artifacts from the 'Ramses & the Gold of the Pharaohs' exhibition to illustrate how individuals prepared for the afterlife. The event was part of the 'Gateway to Egypt' program series supporting the exhibition. Dr Mourad-Cizek specializes in relations between ancient Egypt and Western Asia during the Third and Second Millennia BCE.
