Aperture Opens Permanent Home at 380 Columbus Avenue in September 2026
Aperture will open its first permanent home at 380 Columbus Avenue on the Upper West Side of Manhattan on September 18, 2026. The nonprofit photography publisher, founded in 1952, will occupy the first two floors of a historic building. The inaugural installation, "Aperture Loves New York," curated by executive director Sarah Meister, features iconic NYC photos and books by Diane Arbus, Robert Frank, Nan Goldin, Stephen Shore, Justine Kurland, Deana Lawson, Tyler Mitchell, and Coreen Simpson. The space includes a gallery, bookstore, and photo booth, designed by LEVENBETTS with construction by Sciame. Financing was supported by the Local Initiative Support Corporation (LISC), New York City, New York State, and a capital campaign. Aperture aims to serve as a gathering place for photographers and creative people.
