André Derain's House in Chambourcy Opens Exceptionally for a Weekend

The house of André Derain, a leading Fauvist painter, will open exceptionally to the public on September 12 and 13, 2026, in Chambourcy, France. Derain, who with Henri Matisse redefined color usage in Collioure starting in 1905, is considered a master of Fauvism. His residence, located at 64 Grande Rue, is a little-known site that will welcome visitors for guided tours limited to 25 people per session, lasting one and a half hours. The tours, led by a guide-lecturer, offer a glimpse into his well-preserved studio and the poetic atmosphere of the place. Tickets are priced at 10 euros for adults and 5 euros for those aged 8 to 17. Access is via RER A to Saint-Germain-en-Laye, then bus R4 to the Mairie stop. Reservations are required.
