Ancient Aztec Ceremonial Boxes Discovered at Templo Mayor Archaeological Site

Archaeologists have unearthed six stone containers at the Templo Mayor site in Mexico City. These artifacts date back approximately five centuries and are associated with ritual practices during the reign of Moctezuma I. The discovery provides new insights into ceremonial activities connected to the Aztec empire's territorial growth under that ruler's leadership. The find was made public in March 2026.
