Alias and Dia Art Foundation Launch Spanish Edition of 'Artists by Artists' Series

publication · 2026-03-20

Mexican publisher Alias and the U.S.-based Dia Art Foundation have released the first Spanish-language editions of the 'Artists by Artists' series, which began in 2016. The project features contemporary artists analyzing and interpreting the work of influential conceptual and minimalist predecessors. Launched during Art Week at Kurimanzutto gallery, the initial volumes focus on Hanne Darboven and Walter De Maria, collecting talks originally presented at Dia. The series plans four additional books on Andy Warhol, Bruce Nauman, Robert Smithson, and On Kawara. This initiative aims to circulate a living archive in Spanish where artists reflect on significant artworks, shifting critical discourse from historians to practitioners.
